Not a glitch — the creator simply didn't add any. That's common even on large channels, and it lines up with what YouTube says about tags mattering very little for discovery.

500-character budget

YouTube allows 500 characters across all tags. The commas count, and a tag containing a space is treated as if wrapped in quotation marks — so those quotes count too. That's why “Foo-Baz” costs 7 characters but “Foo Baz” costs 9.

What these tags actually tell you

Most tag extractors quietly imply that copying a competitor's tags will lift your video. It won't. YouTube's own help page says tags play a minimal role in a video's discovery, and that they're mainly useful when your topic is commonly misspelled.

So read tags as a window into how someone framed their topic — which phrases and spellings they picked. That's genuinely useful for research. But write your own set: tags describe your video, and piling on excessive ones runs against YouTube's spam policy.

How do I see the tags on a YouTube video?
