What exactly does it check?
Title against the 100-character limit, description against the 5000-byte limit and its opening hook, chapters against YouTube's three published rules, hashtags against the 60-hashtag cutoff, tags against the 500-character budget, whether a 1280×720 thumbnail exists, and whether captions are available.
Why no SEO score?
Because it would be invented. YouTube publishes limits, not weightings — so a combined number is guesswork. Findings are grouped by plausible impact instead.
Why don't my chapters show up?
YouTube needs the first timestamp at 00:00, at least three in ascending order, and every chapter at least 10 seconds long. Break one and chapters fail silently. This tool checks all three.
Is the description limit 5000 characters?
It's 5000 bytes. Latin letters cost one byte, Cyrillic and most non-Latin scripts cost two, emoji cost four — so a Russian description runs out at roughly 2500 characters.
Can I check a competitor's video?
Yes. Everything is read from YouTube's public Data API, so any public video works. No sign-in, no channel access.
